Sooner or later, you will have guests at your home, either friends or family and if they stay over in your home you should provide a comfortable guest room for their visit.
Make your guests feel comfortable: A reading chair if there’s a room, a small writing desk, a reading lamp within reach of the bed; books about the area, current magazines, some local postcards with proper postage affixed, good pens; a TV or radio so they can catch the news. Install a ceiling fan. Rooms can get stuffy and guests may be reluctant to adjust the air conditioner.
Anticipate your guests’ needs: Have bathrobes, slippers and hair dryer accessible. Ample electrical outlets are a must these days, so guests have a place to recharge their cell phone, digital camera, or laptop. Make space by keep the closet empty or at least tidy with a few feet available for hanging clothes. Include hangers with clips for skirts or pants.
Treat your guests to luxury: Provide them with the same quality of mattress, bed linens and towels that you have for yourself. Sheets with 250 thread counts or higher feel better and last longer after repeated washings. Buy 100 percent cotton for more comfort. White linens are easy to care for and always look right. Launder linens and towels just before guests arrive. Have a basket stocked full of good quality toiletries. Don’t forget extra blankets for chilly nights. A comfortable bed will keep them refreshed and happy. Freshen the room by scented candles and don’t forget to have fresh flowers. Your guest will feel special with this thoughtful gesture. Leave bottled water and glasses and some easy to eat fresh fruits and crackers on a dresser for midnight snacks. |
